The census of India considered children to be any person below the age of 14. However different organization and intuitions have different view on it. India is a country where 39 % out of its total population are children. Child abuse and violation of child rights is very prevalent issues worldwide. United nation educational guides for classify the rights mentioned in the “convention on the rights of the child” as the “3Ps” provision protection and participation.
• Provision: Children have the right to an adequate standard of living ,health care ,education and services , and to play and recreation . These include a balanced diet , a warm bed to sleep in, and access to schooling.
• Protection: Children have the right to protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. This includes the right to safe places for children to play; constructive child rearing behavior, and acknowledgment of the evolving capacities of children.
• Participation: Children have the right to participate in communities and have programs and services for themselves. This includes children's involvement in libraries and community programs, youth voice activities, and involving children as decision-makers
Nav Jagriti has been very committed to the issues of child rights and has played a significant role in addressing the need of children through integrated approach and closely working with parents, teachers, community and other important stakeholders in its project area. It is also running a campaign to aware the community to prevent discrimination between boy and girl child starting from the home.
